Il menu di avvio di Grub non è disponibile dopo aver installato Ubuntu 14.04 LTS su MSI GE 60

Ho installato Windows 8.1 su un laptop MSI GE60; poi proceduto a partizionarlo usando GParted (ridimensionato le partizioni NTFS) e installato Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS nello spazio libero che ho creato / dev / sda8.

Quando eseguo bootinfoscript dopo aver effettuato l'accesso a Ubuntu, l'output appare come segue (vedi sotto, scusate la pasta tagliata piuttosto lunga). Il problema che sto avendo è che non ho un menu di avvio di grub che mi permetta di scegliere quale sistema operativo avviare (ero abituato a farlo con 8.04 Hardy Heron e 10.04 senza troppi problemi su un laptop più vecchio). Si avvia in Ubuntu per impostazione predefinita. L'unico modo per avviare Windows è premendo il tasto Canc quando appare il logo MSI, immettendo BIOS e modificando il valore dell'opzione per l'opzione Boot Mode Select da Legacy a UEFI .

Apprezzo se qualcuno ha qualche idea o suggerimento che mi aiuti a ottenere l'opzione del menu di avvio di Grub, che mi consente di avviare entrambe le scelte del sistema operativo, in modo che non debba entrare nel BIOS ogni volta che voglio lavorare in Windows.

Ho provato il suggerimento da @oldfred:

Windows è installato in modalità di avvio UEFI e Ubuntu in modalità di avvio BIOS. Le due modalità non sono compatibili e puoi solo eseguire il doppio avvio dal menu UEFI / BIOS e potrebbe dover attivare o disattivare le impostazioni di avvio UEFI o BIOS. Grub può solo eseguire il dual boot di altre installazioni nella stessa modalità di avvio all'avvio di grub. È possibile utilizzare Boot-Repair per convertire un'installazione BIOS di Ubuntu in UEFI se l'unità è partizionata con gpt che Windows richiede se è in modalità UEFI

Ma questo non ha funzionato probabilmente perché boot repair non è aggiornato per 14.04.1 LTS (ho avuto qualche errore alla fine). Così ho finito per fare quanto segue:

Formattata la partizione contenente il mio 14.04.1 LTS e reinstallata dopo il riavvio dal BIOS questa volta mantenendo attiva la modalità UEFI e l'avvio rapido disabilitato. Questo ha funzionato senza problemi e ha presentato l'opzione dual boot dal get-go.

La risposta può essere trovata qui . Il tuo GRUB è impostato per nascondere il menu di selezione del sistema operativo all'avvio.

In sostanza, ciò che devi fare è apportare la seguente modifica:

  • Aggiungi un # prima delle due linee "nascoste".

Apri un terminale ( ctrl+alt+t ) e poi inserisci il seguente comando: sudo nano /etc/default/grub . Modifica il file in modo che

GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true

diventa

#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0

#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true

Salva il file ( ctrl+x e poi y da salvare) e poi esegui sudo update-grub .

Quando riavvii dovresti vedere il menu di selezione del sistema operativo.

Puoi ottenere il menu di GRUB premendo Shift key all'avvio del sistema.
